1. Install Minecraft Java Edition
Sovereign MC runs on Minecraft Java Edition 1.21. If your launcher is behind, open the version list and select 1.21 before you start.
2. Add the server
From the title screen open Multiplayer, choose Add Server and paste the address:
play.sovereignmc.net
The port 25550 is resolved by the SRV record, so it does not need to be typed. Press Play and you are connected. The Sovereign MC IP page covers connection problems in detail.
3. Get through spawn
Spawn is a shared lobby. There is no class or build to pick — your nation is your progression, and it starts the moment you claim land.
4. Claim your first town
Follow the spawn guides to an unclaimed plot, then ask at town office to create a town. Founding a town gives you the land, the chest of starter supplies, and the town hall you will eventually govern from. From there you claim plots, level the town up, and can petition to found a nation once your town is ready.
5. Join the community
Most players coordinate on Discord — for war timings, claims and help. The wiki documents every mechanic in depth, starting with the war guide.
Common questions
- Do I need a Minecraft account to join Sovereign MC?
- No. Sovereign MC is cracked: launch Minecraft Java Edition 1.21 and connect directly. You do not need a paid Mojang account, and there is no whitelist application to wait for.
- What version of Minecraft does Sovereign MC run?
- Java Edition 1.21. Older clients are refused at the login screen, so let the launcher update before you connect. Bedrock Edition cannot join this server.
- Which port do I use, and do I have to type it?
- The game port is 25550, but you never type it: the address publishes an SRV record, so pasting play.sovereignmc.net is all Minecraft needs.
- Is Sovereign MC free?
- Yes. Joining and playing costs nothing. Donations are optional and buy ranks or perks, never access to the server.
- Can I play on Bedrock or on a console?
- No. Sovereign MC is a Java Edition server running 1.21 with server-side plugins, so it does not connect from Bedrock Edition, console or mobile clients.
